About Daisy Rock

Hi!  I'm Amy Daileda, a fiber artist living in Portland, Oregon.  I started my business Daisy Rock in 1997 as a way to be true to my strong commitment to the environment and my passion for color and creativity. I love combining colors and textures, and every Daisy Rock item is its own quality handcrafted collage.

Daisy Rock uses earth friendly fabrics such as hemp blends(which are dyed by hand), recycled fleece, salvaged clothing and upholstery fabrics to create soft, simple, functional and funky hats and clothing. Daisy Rock's hand mixed organic colors, simple styles and plant designs are inspired by nature and my garden.

I sold my work at the Portland Saturday Market for almost 9 years!  My pieces are now available at a variety of retail stores, through my website, by appointment at my Portland studio, and at various northwest art festivals.  See my "where to find" page for specifics.

Thanks for visiting my website!

hand dyed hemp - strong, breathable, soft, natural fiber. good for the earth!

Hemp was first cultivated by humans more than 12,000 years ago! It is the strongest natural fiber, naturally resistant to mold and UV light, and softens with use. Its porous nature lets it "breathe", making it cool in warm weather and warm in cool weather. (Perfect for hats!)

The hemp plant is extremely fast growing. The crop produces more fiber per acre than any other source. Hemp's deep root system protects soil from erosion while leaving it in excellent condition for future crops. Hemp is also naturally pest and disease resistant, making it pesticide free.

salvaged fabrics- reclaimed good quality clothing or upholstery fabric swatches or scraps that were otherwise headed for a landfill.  This is a way to reuse as well as a source for interesting prints, patterns, and textures.  Daisy Rock often hand dyes these fabrics.

recycled fleece - fabric made from 100% recycled soda bottles. Warm, soft, durable. Great in the rain.
